One of the latest products from SportDOG, that embodies this acceptance of the new-age technology, is the NoBark SBC-R. Engineered to offer the most advanced bark detection possible, the SBC-R continues to raise the bar of expected performance in electronic bark-control collars.

Verbeterde gebruikersinterface

In het hart van de nieuwe SBC-R ligt een verbeterde en bijgewerkte gebruikersinterface, mogelijk gemaakt door een nieuw, gemakkelijk af te lezen OLED-scherm. In plaats van te vertrouwen op oudere technologie die geen enkele vorm van display had en in plaats daarvan werd bediend door kleurgecodeerde aanwijzingen en geluiden om bedrijfsmodi te wijzigen en het niveau van statische stimulatie, biedt de nieuwe OLED een intuïtievere ervaring voor eigenaren. Het OLED-scherm is ook uiterst nuttig in omstandigheden waarbij de halsband rouleert tussen meerdere honden of door meer dan één eigenaar gebruikt wordt.

In order to clearly distinguish the different operating modes, the SBC-R uses a series of easily-visible icons to indicate the current mode. For Temperament Learning mode, the SBC-R features a dog icon. In this mode, the correction begins at the lowest level and increases to the subsequent level each time the dog barks within 30 seconds of the previous bark. By remembering the correction level required to prevent the dog from barking, the collar will start at the last/highest level used upon activation. The static stimulation level will decrease 30 seconds after your dog ceases barking.

In Progressive mode, a stair step icon is displayed. In this operating mode, the correction starts at the lowest level and increases up one level each time the dog barks within 30 seconds of the previous bark. If the dog doesn’t bark again within 30 seconds, the correction automatically resets to the lowest level.

For User-Selected mode, an outline of a person is shown as each owner manually sets the correction level needed.

Illuminated numbers on the side of the display clearly indicate the level of static stimulation and a battery icon shows the status of the collar’s charge cycle.

The SBC-R collar has also been designed with the dog in mind, with its slim profile design allowing for it to be comfortably worn around the neck without impeding movement or behaviour. As an added benefit, the collar also offers interchangeable contact points to accommodate dogs with either long or short coats, as well as an interchangeable collar strap with a host of colour options available for purchase.

Silent Partner™ Technology

If the core of the new SBC-R is the OLED Display, the heart of the collar is the high-tech Silent Partner™ technology. Using a new digital waveform bark detection algorithm, Silent Partner™ technology filters out external noise, including another dog’s bark, and only delivers a correction when the dog wearing the SBC-R collar barks.

Each collar has been analysed and programmed with thousands of data points so that when a noise is detected, it can cross-reference these cues to confirm if a bark occurred. If it wasn’t a bark, then the collar remains inactive. However, if the collar recognises a discernible bark, static stimulation is administered.

This level of technology is so advanced, that should a dog exhibit heavy breathing, knock its collar against its kennel, or be near other barking dogs, the collar won’t administer a correction.

Through the use of Silent Partner™ technology, owners of the SBC-R can rest assured the collar will only provide the appropriate level of static stimulation for the behaviour that’s trying to be corrected.

Testing 1, 2, 3

Testing products to ensure absolute reliability and performance under any condition isn’t something new to SportDOG. Like all of its products, the SBC-R has undergone rigorous testing procedures to confirm the collar’s durability and effectiveness. These testing protocols include both simulated examinations in controlled environments as well as extensive field trials conducted by SportDOG’s team of professional dog trainers.

Once it’s passed internal thresholds set by the engineering team, the SBC-R is then sent to the SportDOG pro- and field-staffers to get real-world data on as many dogs, in as many situations, as possible. At this point, the testers understand they’re working with a prototype and their responsibility is to determine what works and what doesn’t. After multiple iterations throughout the field-testing process, the collars are sent back to the lab for final evaluation.

In the final evaluation process, each collar undergoes a range of controlled experiments designed to assess the overall durability of the collar. Each test is carried out thousands of times to ensure that the SBC-R is built to last. These tests include drop tests, vibration tests, water immersion tests, and environmental tests. Only after passing each test is the SBC-R made available to customers.
